The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) has published for public comment an Exposure Draft to improve the reporting of the effects of climate-related risks in financial statements. This project was initiated following strong feedback from the IASB's Third Agenda Consultation, which highlighted inconsistencies between financial statement disclosures and other general purpose financial reports on the effects of climate-related risks.
The Exposure Draft proposes eight examples illustrating how entities can apply the requirements in IFRS Accounting Standards to report the effects of climate-related and other uncertainties in its financial statements. The examples mostly focus on climate-related uncertainties, but the principles and requirements illustrated apply equally to other types of uncertainties.

The Exposure Draft is open for comment until 30 October 2024.
