ACSR consulted key stakeholders on the adoption of the ISSB Standards in Malaysia
The Advisory Committee on Sustainability Reporting (ACSR), established by the Securities Commission (SC) in May this year, recently convened a workshop with key stakeholders to consult on the adoption of the ISSB Standards in Malaysia and on assurance of sustainability disclosures. Discussions were frank, insightful and very useful for the ACSR’s considerations.
The ACSR, whose members include representatives of the Audit Oversight Board, Bank Negara Malaysia, Bursa Malaysia, Financial Reporting Foundation (FRF), and Companies Commission of Malaysia / Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) also met with senior representatives of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB) to discuss the ISSA 5000 standards on sustainability assurance.
What's next? The ACSR is now gearing up for a public consultation in early 2024 on the way forward for Malaysia in relation to the ISSB standards and approach for sustainability assurance.
